Securing and Modernizing MOVEit Environments for a Global Financial Technology Leader
Overview
A global provider of financial technology solutions supporting banks, payment processors, and capital markets institutions, engaged Resolute to support several MOVEit migration and upgrade initiatives. The engagement focused on internal and external DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) migrations, upgrades of MOVEit Transfer and MOVEit Automation environments, and resolution of infrastructure-level connectivity challenges affecting production and UAT (User Acceptance Testing) systems.
Because MOVEit supports financial data exchange and EFT-related workflows, the work required careful coordination across infrastructure, network, database, and application teams. Changes had to be implemented in a controlled manner to maintain system stability during migrations and upgrades.
Coordinating Internal and External MOVEit DMZ Migrations
The engagement began with a formal project kickoff to align teams and define migration activities. Resolute then supported several parallel initiatives related to MOVEit environment migrations. These included the internal MOVEit DMZ migration in the Norcross environment and the external MOVEit DMZ migration for the EFT Debit Norcross environment.
Additional migration work included MOVEit Transfer-related components, such as:
- WebVault
- E-Vault
- FileMover Transfer
- BDoc MOVEit Transfer components
These migrations required coordination across network, database, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure connectivity was maintained and file transfer operations continued to function during the transition.
Structured MOVEit Automation Migration and Upgrade Execution
A significant part of the engagement focused on migrating and upgrading MOVEit Automation. Resolute supported preparation and execution activities that included:
- Testing database queries for mass rule updates
- Testing database queries for mass permission updates
- Executing UAT (User Acceptance Testing) upgrades prior to production rollout
- Performing production MOVEit Automation upgrade activities
- Preparing detailed installation and failover documentation
Using database queries enabled updates to be applied across multiple automation configurations in a controlled manner. UAT upgrades were completed before production changes to validate system behavior, task execution, and connectivity.
Troubleshooting Infrastructure and Connectivity Challenges
During migration and upgrade activities, several infrastructure and connectivity issues required investigation and resolution. These included:
- Port configuration conflicts
- Web farm inconsistencies
- Load balancer client connection issues
- Mainframe connectivity troubleshooting
Resolute worked with the client's internal teams to identify root causes and apply corrective actions. Addressing these issues helped maintain operational continuity while environment-level changes were underway.
Results: Modernized and Stabilized MOVEit Environments
The engagement resulted in several improvements to the client's MOVEit environment. Key outcomes included:
- Successful internal and external MOVEit DMZ migrations
- Execution of MOVEit Automation upgrade activities
- Validated UAT-to-production transition
- Resolution of load balancer, port configuration, web farm, and mainframe connectivity issues
- Documented migration and failover procedures for future operational use
Through structured migration planning, tested database updates, and collaborative troubleshooting, Resolute supported the modernization and stabilization of MOVEit environments used in financial data exchange processes.
